Bellator MMA just signed quite the high-profile fight after signing former UFC veteran Myles “Fury” Jury.
The newly acquired Lightweight will take on the former UFC Lightweight champion Benson “Smooth” Henderson in the main event of Bellator 227 in September 27. The promotion announced the bout Monday evening.
Henderson (27-8, 4-3 in Bellator) made his promotional debut back in April of 2016. He has competed at both Lightweight and Welterweight, dropping championship opportunities against both Michael Chandler and Andrey Koreshkov. . Henderson is currently riding a three-fight winning streak over notable fighters such as Roger Huerta, Saad Awad and Adam Piccolotti. Henderson is also the former UFC Lightweight champion and reigned from 2011 to 2013.
Jury (17-4) is Bellator’s newest signing and garnered an 8-4 record with the UFC during his time with the promotion, competing at both Featherweight and Lightweight. Jury acquired notable wins over Takanori Gomi, Diego Sanchez and Michael Johnson. He also won Fight of the Season during his time on season 15 of the Ultimate Fighter against eventual runner-up Al Iaquinta. Despite being known as a submission-based fighter, Jury has eight knockout or TKO wins to compliment his six submission victories.
Bellator 227 takes place at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on September 27 and will stream live on DAZN and air via tape delay on Paramount Network.
