The next possible breakout Gracie prodigy may have just signed on to face his toughest opponent to date.
Multiple sources confirmed the news following reports by Combate and ESPN that Kron Gracie will face longtime WEC and UFC veteran Cub Swanson at UFC on ESPN+ 19 which is set to take place in San Francisco, California.
Swanson (25-11, 10-7 in UFC) will be looking to snap the longest skid of his professional career. The 35-year-old has lost four in a row, dating back to December 2017. The losses have come to some of the top names of the division however in Brian Ortega, Frankie Edgar, Renato Moicano and Shane Burgos. Fighting out of Palm Springs, California, Swanson has been fighting professionally since 2004.
Gracie (5-0, 1-0 in UFC) made his UFC debut in February, submitting Alex Caceres via rear-naked choke in just over two minutes. A decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist and a member of the renowned Gracie family, Kron has finished all five of his MMA bouts via submission.
UFC on ESPN+ 19 will take place on October 12 at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California and will be headlined by a pivotal women’s Strawweight bout between former longtime champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk and former Invicta FC Atomweight champion Michelle Waterson.
