Former NFL player and current Ultimate Fighting Championship Heavyweight Greg Hardy has signed on for his second fight with the promotion.
Greg Hard will face Russian fighter Dmitrii Smoliakov at UFC on ESPN 3. The bout was announced by the promotion Thursday and will take place on April 27.
Hardy (3-1, 2-1 in UFC) is coming off the first loss of his career after he was disqualified for an illegal knee that landed in a bout against Allen Crowder at UFC on ESPN+ 1 in January. Prior to this loss, Hardy had garnered three straight knockouts in his first three professional bouts. Hardy is a controversial figure which stems from his past in which the athlete encountered legal trouble for alleged domestic abuse. However, Hardy was never charged with any crime.
Smoliakov (9-2, 0-2 in UFC) is returning for his second stint with the promotion after losing his first two bouts in the Octagon. Smolyakov is otherwise undefeated outside the UFC with all of his wins coming by way of submission or knockout.
UFC on ESPN 3 takes place at the BB&T Arena in Sunrise, Florida on April 27 and will air live on ESPN. The card will be headlined by a Middleweight rematch between Yoel Romero and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
