Benson Henderson to make his return to action at Bellator 220

Former UFC Lightweight champion and current Bellator competitor Benson “Smooth” Henderson is set to make his return to the Bellator cage.

Benson Henderson vs. Adam Piccolotti at Lightweight has been set for Bellator 220. The bout was announced by the promotion on Wednesday.

Henderson (26-8, 3-3 in Bellator) is currently riding a two-fight win streak, both against longtime competitor Roger Huerte and Bellator mainstay Saad Awad. Henderson most recently renewed his contract with Bellator and is set to compete for the promotion for the next two years at minimum. Of Henderson’s 26 career wins, 11 have come by way of submission.

Piccolotti (11-2, 7-2 in Bellator) has been with the promotion since 2015 and has garnered notable victories over James Terry and Brandon Girtz. Most recently, Piccolotti is riding a two-fight winning streak and of his 11 career wins, five have come by way of submission.

Bellator 220 will take place at the SAP Arena in San Jose, California and will stream live on DAZN. The event will be headlined by a Welterweight Grand Prix matchup between reigning champion Rory MacDonald and Jon Fitch.
