After losing out on a marquee bout with Yair Rodriguez after the Mexican-born fighter unfortunately withdrew from their bout, Zabit Magomedsharipov has found a new dance partner in Dallas.
Russian Featherweight Zabit Magomedsharipov was not sure he would be fighting at the UFC 228 pay per view card after the aforementioned Rodriguez had unfortunately pulled out of their bout last week due to injury. However, FloGrappling has reported that Contender Series alumni Brandon Davis has answered the short notice call and will face the rising Featherweight on the main card of the Dallas fight card.

Davis (9-4, 2-2 in UFC) joined the UFC roster last year when he won a contract on episode seven of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. He defeated Austin Arnett by way of a unanimous judges decision to earn his spot. He has since gone 1-2, winning solely against Steven Peterson at UFC Fight Night 126: Cowboy vs. Medeiros and dropping decision losses to Enrique Barzola and Kyle Bochniak. Of Davis’ nine victories, two have come by way of submission and three by way of knockout or TKO.
Magomedsharipov (15-1, 3-0 in UFC) is currently considered one of the hottest rising stars in the UFC’s Featherweight division. Having displayed an unorthodox and exciting striking skill set that is complimented by a very dangerous and aggressive grappling game, Zabit has managed to notch three victories thus far inside the Octagon. Two of his victories under the feature promotion have come by way of rear naked choke submission and his latest being a unanimous decision Fight of the Night victory against Kyle Bochniak. His two UFC submission victories also earned Zabit Performance of the Night honors.
UFC 228 takes place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas and will stream live on pay per view. The event will be headlined by a Welterweight championship matchup between rising Welterweight star Darren Till and the 170 pound champion Tyron Woodley. The co-main event will feature the first ever UFC Flyweight championship title defense as the inagural title holder Nicco Montano takes on former Bantamweight contender Valentina Shevchenko.
