Chad Mendes vs. Myles Jury set for UFC Fight Night in Idaho

One of the best Featherweights in mixed martial arts is set to return to the Octagon after a long layoff.

Announced Monday afternoon by the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Chad “Money” Mendes is set to return to action after two years away from the sport and will face No. 15 ranked Featherweight contender Myles “Fury” Jury at UFC Fight Night 133 in Boise, Idaho on July 14.

Mendes missed two years from the sport after being flagged by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for a doping violation involving a growth hormone known as GHRP-6. Shortly after the positive test was conceived, Mendes was handed down a two-year suspension that will officially end on June 10 of this year.

Mendes (17-4, 8-4 in UFC) will be looking to not only bounce back from a long layoff but also will be seeking a snap to his current two-fight losing streak taht comes against ranked contender Frankie Edgar in December of 2015, and Conor McGregor back at UFC 189. Mendes’ last victory came against Ricardo Lamas at UFC Fight Night 63. OF Mendes’ eight career wins inside the Octagon, five have come by way of knockout.

Myles Jury (17-2, 8-2 in UFC) will be looking to garner the biggest win of his UFC career when he takes on the former title challenger while also adding to his current two-fight win streak. Jury, an alumni of season 15 of the Ultimate Fighter, went 6-1 in the UFC’s Lightweight division. In December of 2015, Jury dropped down to Featherweight, although he would lose in his divisional debut against Charles Oliveira. He has since rounded off two victories against Mike De La Torre and Rick Glenn.

UFc Fight Night 133 takes place at the CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho on July 14 and will air live on Fox Sports 1 with early prelims streaming on UFC Fight Pass. The card will be headlined by a Heavyweight matchup between former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and former World Series of Fighting Heavyweight champion Blagoy Ivanov.
