Mackenzie Dern vs. Amanda Bobby Cooper set for UFC 224 in Brazil

One of the newest stars of the UFC women’s Strawweight division will be making a quick turnaround after having just made her promotional debut.

Fresh off her successful Octagon debut, the 24-year-old jiu-jitsu phenom will return against strawweight veteran Amanda Cooper on May 12 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at UFC 224. MMA Brasil was the the first to report the booked bout on Wednesday.

Dern (6-0, 1-0 in UFC) made her UFC octagon debut at the beginning of the month at UFC 222. She scored a split decision victory over Ultimate Fighter veteran Ashley Yoder. Dern has garnered a lot of attention from media and fans alike as she is a prominently successful figure in the submission grappling world, having amassed a record of more than 100 matches. Dern stands undefeated with three submission victories under her belt.

Cooper (3-3, 2-2 in UFC) is coming off her most notable win to date, defeating well-known Strawweight Angela Magana via strikes in the second round back at UFC 218. Cooper is also an Ultimate Fighter alum, having won all three tournament bouts and making it to the finals of her season before falling to the season’s eventual winner Tatiana Suarez.

UFC 224 takes place at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 12 and will stream live on pay per view. No main event has been tapped for the card as of press time. The card as of now reads:
