UFC 222 co main event preview

UFC 222 will take place on March 3, 2018 at the T Mobile arena in Paradise, Nevada where the main event is a battle of two experienced featherweight women fighting for the 145 belt. The co main event however could headline any event in any location on the planet as former UFC Lightweight Champion and number 2 ranked Featherweight Frankie Edgar 22-5-1 (16-5-1) in UFC will look to solidify himself as the true number one contender in the division as he faces number 3 ranked Featherweight Brian Ortega (13-0-1) 5-0-1 in UFC in what will be a non stop battle for the ages.

Originally the Main event of UFC 222 was supposed to be current Featherweight Champion Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar for the belt. However Holloway became injured and thus the UFC found a replacement to face the former Lightweight Champion.

Making his debut all the way back in 2007 Frankie Edgar has always shown a champions cardio and excellent footwork blended with great wrestling. In 2010 he captured the 155 belt by defeating BJ Penn and since that victory we have seen him improve with every fight we see him in. In 2013 he dropped one weight class down to try and capture the 145 title, 5 years later and with 2 attempts so far at the new weight classes gold, Edgar may only have one more shot to become the 145 king. For that to occur he needs to take out an undefeated rising star.

Arriving to the UFC in 2014 Brian Ortega is currently on a 5 fight winning streak. With some of those victories including finishes over Diego Brandao, Clay Guida and Cub Swanson. Ortega is improving in all aspects of his game, especially his striking. Over the course of his UFC career however we have seen his strong point is the ground game and submisssions. If he wishes to challenge for the 145 strap one day though he needs to put everything together and come in completely prepared for the fight of his life this saturday.

Which Featherweight will take the win and possibly challenge for the Championship? Find out March 3, 2018 at UFC 222.
