The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s next trip to London will be headlined by flavorful Heavyweight matchup that will spell big things for the division moving forward.
Former UFC Heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum is set to take on Russian up-and-comer and former Bellator champion Alexander Volkov in the main event of UFC Fight Night: London on March 17.
The bout was confirmed by the promotion Thursday morning via social media.

Werdum (23-7-1, 11-4 in UFC) most recently defeated Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Night 121 in Sydney, Australia late last year. Werdum has garnered three wins in his last four since losing his Heavyweight title to current champ Stipe Miocic back at UFC 198. His other wins include an armbar finish of Walt Harris and a unanimous decision victory against Travis Browne. Werdum has won against nine opponents since returning to the UFC back in 2012 and has finished more than half of them including former champion Cain Velasquez.
Alexander Volkov (29-6, 3-0 in UFC) has yet to taste defeat inside the Octagon and most recently defeated long time veteran Stefan Struve last September by way of strikes in the third round. Volkov was also the last man in the Octagon to defeat Roy Nelson, who since that fight has journeyed over to Bellator MMA. Speaking of which, Volkov himself is a former champion of the Bellator brand, winning the title back in 2012. He is also the winner of the final Bellator Heavyweight tournament back when the promotion held such spectacles.
