The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s second ever Hawaiian champion is set to make his second title defense.
UFC Featherweight champion Max “Blessed” Holloway will meet Frankie “The Answer” Edgar at UFC 222 which takes place on March 3rd at the T-Mobile Arena. Holloway and Edgar were scheduled to meet back at UFC 218 last December in Detroit, however an injury forced Edgar to concede from the bout and former Featherweight champion Jose Aldo stepped in on three weeks notice to take on Holloway.
Holloway (19-3, 15-3 in UFC), in his first ever title defense as champion, turned away Jose Aldo, the man he fought to win the belt, by way of TKO in the third round. The Hawaiian native is currently on a 12 fight winning streak, the third longest ever in UFC history and the currently the second longest active win streak behind former Welterweight and Middleweight champion Georges St. Pierre. Of Holloway’s 15 career Octagon wins, 10 come by way of finish.
Edgar (22-5-1, 16-5-1 in UFC) is coming off a dominant display against up-and-coming contender Yair Rodriguez last May back at UFC 211. The former Lightweight champion is currently 7-2 in the 145 pound weight class with his only two losses coming from the same man in Jose Aldo in what were both UFC Featherweight championship bouts. Among the 16 career Octagon wins Edgar holds, 7 are by way of TKO or submission.
UFC 222 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevade on Saturday March 3 and will be streaming only on pay per view. It has not been formally announced as to whether or not this bout will take place as the event’s main event but for now the card is as follows:

- Stefan Struve vs. Andrei Arlovski
- C.B Dolloway vs. Hector Lombard
