As the rumor mill keeps churning that former UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre is closer than ever to making his return, St. Pierre claimed in an interview with Israel-based writer Ram Gilboa that the UFC offered him a fight against UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping.
“The first offer they made us was for Bisping,” St. Pierre told Gilboa. However, St. Pierre and his representation made a counter-offer to the UFC, which was not immediately replied to. St. Pierre then found out the next day that the UFC was sold to William Morris Endeavor and International Management Group. The sale was finalized last month for reportedly $4 billion.
St. Pierre claimed Bisping was the middleweight champion at the time the UFC offered him that fight, which would have taken place in Toronto, Canada. Despite mutual interest from St. Pierre and Bisping, according to St. Pierre, negotiations fell through and Bisping is now slated to fight Dan Henderson at UFC 204 on Oct. 8 in Manchester, England.
