Bellator ‘Dynamite 2’ Kickboxing Main Card Preview

On June 24h from the Scottrade Center Bellator MMA makes it’s return to host it’s second fusion of mixed martial arts and kickboxing with Dynamite 2. The main event is a mixed martial arts bout between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Satoshi Ishii. The co main features a battle for the Bellator lightweight title between Michael Chandler and Patricky Freire. For the kickboxing slate we have a few engaging matchups which is the focus of this article. The televised kickboxing events will host matches between Joe Schilling and Hasai Kato, Raymond Daniels vs Stefano Bruno, Kevin Ross faces Justin Houghton, Denise Kielholtz against Gloria Peritore and last but not least Keri Melendez welcoming Sarah Howell to the professional ranks of kickboxing. Two kickboxing matches are set for the main Dynamite televised portion while the rest will take place on Bellator Kickboxing which airs after the Dynamite event.

Kevin Ross(31-9) is a household name in the world of kickboxing both on the K1 and Muay Thai circuits. He returns to Bellator Kickboxing to face mixed martial arts turned kickboxer Justin Houghton(7-2). This is quite the step up for Justin who faces a man that has held and competed for many titles against some of the best in the world. Ross looks to make it two straight for Bellator kickboxing and also has his eyes of stepping into the cage in the near future.

Dutch kickboxer Denise Kielholtz (44-2) has over forty professional fights in her career at the young age of 27. She too hopes to continue her Bellator kickboxing momentum from Italy when she faces Gloria Peritore (10-1-1). The Italian born fighter was able to win in front of her home crowd back in Torino but now faces a new opponent in an unfamiliar land. These two technical standouts should provide quite the show for the St. Louis audience.

Joe Schilling (27-8) is also one of the most recognized fighters in combat sports transitioning back and forth between kickboxing and mixed martial arts. He takes to the ring set for revenge against the last opponent to defeat him in the cage, Hasai Kato (6-2). Since then Kato has been active in the world of mma with another Bellator and even a Rizin fight in the previous year. Advantage to Schilling with this being a kickboxing match but don’t count out Kato early with his one shot knock out ability that has already beaten Joe once. This should be a great rematch.

American standout kickboxer Raymond Daniels(11-3) looks to add to his impressive five first round knockouts when he faces Italian welterweight stud Stefano Bruno (23-2-1). This bout has the potential to be a classic as both fighters have an exciting style and are climbing the ranks as two of the best the world has to offer.

Keri Melendez(3-1) is making a name for herself outside of her husband’s success in the kickboxing ranks. Her opponent for the Bellator Kickboxing will be Sarah Howell (0-0)making her professional debut. Sarah should be more than ready to make her pro debut even though she is facing one of the rising stars in the sport.
