Bellator Speaks Out On The Passing Of Kimbo Slice

Monday evening the MMA world was shocked and saddened by the news that the popular MMA fighter Kevin Ferguson who was known by the name “Kimbo Slice” died at the young age of 42. Slice was taken to the Northwest Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida Monday afternoon and soon after had passed away.

“We lost our brother today,” Imber said in a text message to The Associated Press.

” The cause of death was still unclear.” Kmiotek said “there is no active police investigation, and no foul play is suspected.”

Kimbo’s last fight was in February with Bellator where he knocked out Dhaffir “Dada 5000” which was later overturned to no contest due to testing positive for an anabolic steroid. Kimbo was set to to fight in London against James Thompson with Bellator on July 16th.

Kimbo Slice competed in the top two MMA promotions in the world and since the news of his passing, Bellator has released a statement on his tragic passing.

One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport. Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans and teammates.”
