On Saturday June 3rd from the always spectacular River City Casino in St. Louis, Mo Shamrock FC presents “Explosion”. The premier mixed martial arts promotion has stacked card with rematch between Kyle Kurtz and Adam Cella in the main event. The night will also feature for the first time a four man featherweight tournament where the winner will be awarded a contract from the promotion. The co main features an exciting match up between Garrett Gross and Malcolm Smith and Susie Wyatt makes her long awaited professional debut. It will be a great night of fighting to kick off a jam packed month of mixed martial arts scene in St. Louis.
The first fight between Adam Cella(6-5) and Kyle Kurtz(5-2) was one to remember. The match up took place for Bellator mma and started off as a one sided affair for Cella until he got caught by Kurtz. The fight ended with a submission in the second round. Cella returned to the Bellator again but unfortunately he was unsuccessful in that bout as well. Kurtz has since went 1-2 since the victory in a nice little Dominick Cruz vs Team Alpha Male scenario. All of his opponents have been from the same camp at Finney’s MMA. Adam will seek revenge his Saturday as Kurtz has started talks of retirement young into his career. Look for this to be an exciting fight with a great pace between to athletes set to make a definitive point.
Garrett Gross(7-5) is a local favorite and always puts on a great show when he steps in the cage. He faces Malcolm Smith(4-4) who steps in for Aaron Highfill. Gross loss his last fight to Rashard Lovelace so he hopes to return to the winning column on Friday Night. Smith still shows tons of promise and has not been seen since his defeat to CJay Hunter last year. He should be eager to make a great impression in the cage to prove he is still one of the best talents in the area.
Cort Wahle(1-0) looks to go 2-0 in his young professional career when he takes on the tested Scott Ettling (2-1) who own his previous two fights before running into a leglock submission competing in Bellator. This should be a grinder as both fighters are capable of taking the fight anywhere but Scott does hold an advantage if and when this goes to the mat.
Flyweight standout Daniel O’ Connor(5-6) makes his return to the Shamrock FC cage after a heartbreaking loss late last year. He faces Isaac Badger (1-7) who is also desperate for a win after losing six straight. Both athletes will be hungry to taste success which should make for an intriguing match up. Regardless, one of them will finally return back to the W column on Friday night.
Last year Susie Wyatt(0-0) predicted she would be making her pro debut on this card and low and behold it has come true. After a nice run at amatuer the submission specialist turns to the pro ranks. She will be welcomed by Nikki Duncan(0-3) looking for her first pro win after an outstanding amatuer run herself. Duncan is no slouch on the ground herself so this should be one of the better grappling matches we see during the course of the night.
The four featherweights competing in the tournament will be Edrick Dillard, Brandon Pearson, Aushton Midkiff and Bob Hinchcliffe. Full card is available below and as always the fights will stream from the website at www.shamrockfightingchampionships.com
