This Saturday the all women’s professional mixed martial arts promotion Invicta FC returns for their 17th event live from the Hangar at The OC Fair and Events center. The headlining bout is for the bantamweight championship between Tonya Evinger(17-6) and Colleen Schneider(10-6). The co main features another title fight between reigning strawweight champion Livia Renata Souza (9-0)and the revitalized Angela Hill (4-2). Kaline Medeiros steps in for Mizuki Inoue on short notice to face Invicta newcomer Aline Serio while Charmaine Tweet and Latoya Walker battle it out in a pivotal featherweight scrap.
Tonya Evinger has been holding her own as one of the best bantamweight fighters in the world. Even without the UFC she is clearly one of the top ten fighters in the weight class. She faces Colleen Schneider who is riding a four fight win streak including a hard fought battle against Raquel Pahalui. Colleen is a testy veteran but won’t bring anything new that Evinger hasn’t faced before. Don’t be surprised with see Tonya’s hands raised once again and early.
Livia Renata Souza has faced the best the Invicta FC strawweight division has to offer (outside of Alexa Grasso) and continues to impress. Her next challenger is a fighter with UFC experience and a nice muay thai background in Angela Hill. While Hil,l similar to Renata’s last opponent, has all the tools to make this an outstanding stand up affair Livia has proved that she’s more than capable of handling herself on the feet. If the fight goes to the mat it could be tough waters for Hill. This should be a treat for mma fans no matter where bout lands.
Flyweight standout Aline Serio (9-5) has only fought in her home country of Brazil but has faced some world class talent like Kalindra Faria. She makes her debut for Invicta against another newcomer in last minute replacement Kaine Medeiros(6-4). Kaline is not a new face to the mma landscape as she has had bouts in both Legacy and Bellator. These two should provide an entertaining match up as both have finishing ability. Kaline even has a victory against current strawweight contender Stephanie Eggink.
Latoya Walker(5-0) is a hard hitting fighter with impressive boxing that was displayed quite nicely in her last fight. She gets her biggest test to date against former featherweight contender Charmaine Tweet(8-5). Don’t let her great smile and personality fool you as Charmaine is an assassin that has the ability to end the fight fast and in any fashion. She has always been one of the more well rounded fighters in the promotion. Walker will have to deal with the taller fighter and look to utilize her boxing like she did against the rangier Peggy Morgan. Though Charmaine is a different animal which makes this fight to close to call.
In another featherweight scrap Amanda Bell (3-3) makes her long awaited return taking on the emerging Megan Anderson. Anderson looked great in her last fight but will have her hands full against the aggressive Bell(5-2). Fan favorite Rachael Ostovich(2-2) looks to bring “Wonder Woman” back into the W column when she faces newcomer and Legacy vet Ariel Beck (3-2). Both ladies have tasted defeat to flyweight contender Andrea KGB Lee so look for fireworks in this one.
Get your highlight reels ready for the always explosive Christine Staley(4-1) making her highly anticipated Invicta FC return taking on the savvy and always game threat in Shannon Sinn(2-2). Cage Warriors vet Laura Howarth(2-1) makes her Invicta debut along with mma amatuer standout Alexa Conners (0-0) making her professional debut.
Eight total bouts make up this exciting night of fights that will be available on UFC Fight Pass this Saturday May 7th. Look for a recap right here on MMA Wreckage!
