VIDEO: Melvin Manhoef, Showing No Mercy

Tonight ageing fan favourite Melvin Manhoef takes on Hisaki Kato at Bellator 146.

Melvin Manhoef has been involved in some epic fights over the years. Be it his Cage Rage title fight against Cyborg Santos, his insane battle with current UFC WW champ Robbie Lawler or his one punch knockout over the formidable Mark Hunt.

Manhoef is one of the best offensive technical strikers in MMA. His combinations when in full flow are a thing to behold and his use of chopping leg kicks and body hooks are just beautiful to watch in both brutality and technicality.

Kato and Manhoef both have a common opponent that they share in Joe Schilling. Both with vastly different outcomes as Manhoef lost by KO and Kato won by KO. Kato was -in all honesty- brought in for Schilling to beat yet he managed to frustrate, then KO Schilling and put a stop to his star rising they way Bellator had intended. At this point it’s unsure whether that Superman punch was a one-off upset but we won’t have long to find our answers.

Manhoef can win this fight if he brings his A game and shows the variety of strikes we’ve come to expect from him. That coupled with some tighter defence and it all points to a W for ‘No Mercy’

Here’s a highlight video just to remind you of what this guy looks like when he’s on form. Enjoy!
